Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus is once again in the spotlight. This time, it's to learn kung fu without the help of humans. In a short video shared by Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter), the robot can practice martial arts alongside the trainer and show off impressive balance, flexibility and control.

Tesla Optimus vs. Humans

The short video begins with Optimus and the human trainer greeting each other before a friendly combat session. Once that begins, the robot copies the movements of trainer Kung Fu, blocking them almost completely, changing their stance and syncing their arms.

Most impressive is maintaining balance and adjustments before quietly returning to the resting pose.

When the X user asked if the robot was controlled remotely, Musk confirmed that Optimus was fully operational with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Human assistance or remote control was not involved.

Previous versions of Optimus required human support for basic actions. For example, when they served popcorn on Tesla Diner, it was later revealed that the robot was being remotely controlled. But this latest video shows a big step forward – Optimus is currently learning complex movements entirely on its own.

Musk has previously said that Optimus can pick up new skills just by looking at humans. The robot has already learned how to sort floors with vacuum cleaners by observing people and watching online videos including YouTube.

Elon Musk believes Optimus will play a major role in Tesla's future. He recently said that almost 80% of Tesla's value could ultimately come from the robotics department. Musk also plans to increase production to 5,000 Optimus units by 2025.
