- Elon Musk posted to X imagining his new AI-powered text-to-video generator “Is Ai Vine.”
- Vine was its beloved short form video service purchased by Twitter in 2012 and discontinued in 2017.
- Musk says he is currently working to restore Vine's video archives.
There's a new favorite Vine video right away thanks to Grok Imagine, a new AI-powered text-to-video generator from Elon Musk.
“Groke is I Grape!” Musk wrote in a post on X on Saturday to promote the latest features of his chatbot, Grok.
Grok Imagine – Now in beta, users can enter images and scenes they want to see the AI bots animated into the video. Next, generate a clip with sound to the user's specifications.
Before Tiktok, and long before Glock – there was a vine. The beloved short form video service that allows users to create and upload six-second videos was owned by Then-Twitter until its inception in 2017 until its closing in 2017.
Grok Imagine offers a new AI spin with short form clips, but Musk appears to be paying attention to the comeback of Vine itself.
“By the way, we recently found a Vine Video Archive (I thought it was deleted) and are working on restoring user access, so we can post it if necessary.”
When restoring the Vine archive, it is unknown whether users have access to the old account or if it is a temporary measure that allows the service to access the old files.
Musk and X representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
For now, access to Grok Imagine is slowly rolling out to subscribers of SuperGrok, Chatbot's 30-month premium tier, but X users can sign up and add it to their waitlist.
