Twenty-two Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers from various government entities in Dubai will take up their duties today.
This was revealed by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, at the AI Retreat being held at the Museum of the Future on Tuesday.
Speaking about the selection process, he said: “Dubai has already selected 22 Chief AI Officers, who will take up their duties by today. They were not handpicked by calling IT professionals Chief AI Professors. Each individual underwent rigorous training to ensure they have the knowledge, capabilities to deploy this technology, and understand their own blind spots. This is because we want to ensure that all advisors in all government departments are aware of the vision, have the capabilities, and are able to realise the vision.”
This comes after Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the development of a pioneering model of AI-powered government operations as part of a broader vision to establish the country as a global leader in government innovation.
Orama stressed that the initiative will strengthen Dubai's progress and expertise in the sector, reinforcing its position as a leader in creating innovative solutions based on advanced technologies.
A campus dedicated to AI companies
Meanwhile, he also revealed another key initiative: the establishment of a campus dedicated to artificial intelligence companies.
“The second key initiative in the blueprint is a campus dedicated to artificial intelligence companies. We now have an AI campus in DIFC dedicated to AI companies. What you're about to see is this is the first phase and it will expand and become the largest dedicated AI practice in the world. This is a testament to the region being seen as a global player, not just a regional or local player.”
