US President Donald Trump has announced a $92 billion energy and infrastructure deal aimed at meeting Big Tech's electricity needs to fuel the AI boom. Trump made his first announcement Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit At Carnegie Mellon University. Top executives from Google, Palantir, Anthropic, Exxon and Chevron took part in the event. President Trump has argued for the need to beat China in the world's AI races.“My commitment today is to ensure that the future is designed, built and built here in Pennsylvania and here in Pittsburgh. I have to say this in the United States,” Trump said at the event. He added, “We are ahead of China, plants are beginning, construction is beginning.” His comments reflect the growing sentiment in Washington, with the US not to lose its position in China in the competition to develop AI.
Google has achieved a $25 billion commitment
In the investment, Google has committed $25 billion to build AI-Ready data centers in and around Pennsylvania. Similar to the AFP report, Ruth Porat, Google's president and chief investment officer, said:Google also announced a partnership with Brookfield Asset Management, modernizing two hydroelectric facilities in Pennsylvania, accounting for 670 MW of the regional grid. Energy concerns for technology companies
