When we asked Homelander actor Antony Starr if this was intentional, he replied with a laugh: “It’s crazy that these scripts were written two years ago. So if there are any discrepancies like that, it’s very much a coincidence.”
However, Antony admitted that the writers, led by series creator Eric Kripke, had included several easter eggs in the past that alluded to real-life events. Anthony fully acknowledged giving these tips to the writers, adding: “I wish it had been me, but unfortunately Eric is the one writing this show. I’ll have to talk to him about it. But it was an interesting show in that respect.”
Previously, Antony said that while many people believe that Homelander is based on a real person, the truth is that he avoids doing so. “If you base it only on one or two people, it becomes quite two-dimensional. And I never want that to happen. So everything from my perspective comes from within me, and I’m just trying to do the best I can with the script that I’m given. So it was really an exercise in serving the script. I was really lucky that the writing team was great,” the actor told Us.
