Ayesha Khan, who appeared in ‘Dhulandhar’ and spoke out in support of the ongoing Jantar Mantar protests led by the Kochiri Janta Party and the country’s youth, shared on Instagram that she was detained by the Mumbai Police on July 22 on suspicion of simply ‘standing on the road’.
Ayesha Khan shares video from inside police van
The actress posted a video of herself sitting in a police van and said, “My hands are shaking right now. I was detained in a police van for just standing peacefully on the road. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t start a protest. I was just standing there as my brother and male friend were detained.”
She then pointed the camera to show how many other people were being held by the Mumbai Police, saying, “They’re all in a van without any explanation.” Koian sa nahi hai ki ke pas. Mene to kuch bola hi nahi. I was just standing on the road and being pulled and pushed by four or five women on my left, right and center. ”
Ayesha Khan questions lack of accountability
In another post, he posted a photo of a police officer with the caption: “Detained for standing calmly on the road. #Where’s the blame?” In another video, a voice (possibly Ayesha’s) can be heard in the background asking police where they were being taken, but the police do not respond. Sharing the post, Ayesha captioned it as, “No answers!! Only God knows where we’re going?”
Ayesha Khan resists as police force her into a van
Another video shows several police officers forcing Ayesha into a van as she continues to resist. Sharing the same visual from a different angle in another story, Ayesha wrote, “Unfortunately, it took four female police officers to take me away. But I ask the same question again, why? Did I make any noise? Did I even start a conversation? What did you detain me for? For standing on the road? I wasn’t even in the group of five!”

Earlier, Ayesha had appealed to popular paparazzi accounts and media pages to shed more light on the ongoing CJP protests in Delhi. “…I’m so disappointed that I didn’t know anything about this either. We often get so caught up in the glamor and beauty and controversy that we turn our attention away from things that actually need our attention,” she said.
