Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on February 16 issued a passenger advisory warning of possible traffic congestion and delays to and from the airport during the India AI Summit at Bharat Mandapam. The airport encouraged travelers to use the subway for easier access.
Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) has posted on X advising passengers to plan their travels in advance due to a major event in the national capital that may disrupt road traffic. “In view of major events in Delhi that may impact travel to and from the airport, travelers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and consider alternative public transport options,” the advisory states.
Passengers were urged to use the Delhi Metro to avoid inconvenience. The airport suggested using the Magenta Line for Terminal 1, the Airport Express Line for Terminals 2 and 3, or other available services. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the advisory concludes.
The advisory went into effect at 9 a.m.
India will host the AI Impact Summit 2026 at the Bharat Mandapam from February 16 with the theme ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the India AI Impact Expo 2026 from February 16 to 20 in conjunction with the summit.
The expo is designed as a national platform to showcase artificial intelligence, bringing together policy, innovation and large-scale implementation across 10 arenas spanning over 70,000 square meters. It will include global technology companies, startups, academia, research institutions, federal departments, state governments, and international partners.
Thirteen country pavilions represent international cooperation in AI, including Australia, Japan, Russia, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan, and African countries.
More than 300 carefully selected exhibition pavilions and live demonstrations will be held around the theme of People, Planet and Progress, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of AI. More than 600 startups are participating, many of which are developing population-scale AI solutions and have already deployed them in real-world environments.
The expo is expected to attract more than 250,000 visitors, including international delegates, and foster global partnerships and business opportunities within the AI ecosystem.
In addition, the event will feature more than 500 sessions with more than 3,250 speakers and panelists.
The Impact Summit is the first international AI summit to be held in the Global South and aims to showcase New Delhi’s vision for an inclusive, responsible and impactful AI future.
Under the IndiaAI mission, 12 indigenous-based models developed by homegrown startups and consortiums trained on India’s extensive datasets and 22 official languages will be made public.
The summit will host the AI Impact Expo, where real-world AI applications such as precision agriculture and accessible education will be demonstrated across 70,000 square meters.
India’s AI market is expected to exceed USD 17 billion by 2027. With 800 million internet users, a growing startup ecosystem, and an advanced digital public infrastructure, India is positioning itself as a vital link between innovation and impact.
