De Anza College will launch what it touts as Silicon Valley’s first applied artificial intelligence associate degree program this fall, as well as six new AI-focused certifications and more than 20 new degree and certificate programs.
The new AI program is designed not only for students but also for those already working. The former group can earn a foundational certificate that covers basic AI concepts and methodologies before moving on to more technical fields or pursuing an associate’s degree. The latter group can earn a similar certificate through the non-credit Applying AI in the Workplace program. Professionals looking to dig a little deeper can earn the AI in Business certification by learning hands-on skills in generative AI tools for applications such as marketing, accounting, human resources, and analytics.
This curriculum focuses on responsible AI development and ethical practices.
“We believe we need to proactively provide students with the knowledge and training to make informed choices about their interactions with AI,” Ram Subramaniam, De Anza’s vice president of instruction, said in a release.
