Jeff Baxter, VP of Product Marketing at NetApp, talks to theCUBE about AI-driven data storage.

“I know I'm talking to a lot of people here, but the AFF A-Series is our unified data storage thoroughbred, our high-performance array,” Baxter said. “So this line refresh is a big injection of adrenaline into mid-range and high-end performance flash systems…We’ve optimized it and made it ready to handle AI workloads and just about anything else. ” That. “

Baxter spoke with theCUBE's Rebecca Knight and Rob Strechay at the NetApp Unveils Unified Data Storage Built for the AI Era event during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media's livestreaming studio. They discussed how NetApp is introducing a new unified data storage system optimized for AI workloads and using AI to improve ransomware protection. (*Disclosure below.)

Power your business and security with AI-powered data storage solutions

Based on customer feedback, NetApp is enhancing autonomous ransomware protection with AI models and tamper-proof snapshots. The aim is to create a complete solution for building a cyber vault and protecting against ransomware while remaining the data foundation for enterprise AI, Baxter explained.

“Many of our customers were already building into their cyber vaults, taking the tools we built. And we said, this is amazing. Let's support you.” Baxter said. “Let's make this even easier and make it a packaged solution so you have a complete reference to build this cyber vault and protect it from ransomware.”

Cyber resilience is critical to customers, with AI being the main opportunity and ransomware being the main fear. Baxter concluded that no system is foolproof and that eventually everyone will fall victim to ransomware.

“We can't go out and say, we found the solution. There's a cure. You'll be 100% immune to it. We think in binary terms. That's difficult for IT people because they're used to doing that,” Baxter said. “The key question is: What is the best threat avoidance for me? What is my risk avoidance strategy? And where can I actually help invest? That's what we've been working on at NetApp: how can we take all the technology we have and make it more accessible to people?”
