Darbhanga: A youth from Darbhanga has been arrested for posting an objectionable AI-generated video and edited photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP MLA Maithili Thakur on social media. The video quickly caught the attention of district authorities and cyber police were asked to take immediate action. A case was registered and a search for the suspects began in multiple states.

The suspect has been identified as Pankaj Kumar Yadav, a resident of Baheri Ujjaina in Darbhanga district. Police tracked him to Jamnagar in Gujarat with the help of local police. After his arrest, a team from Darbhanga reached Gujarat and brought him back for further investigation. Officials said the man had migrated to Gujarat after losing his father.

Police sources said the youth will first be taken to Patna and then brought back to Darbhanga. Senior officials in Patna will question him to understand how the disturbing video was made, whether he worked alone and whether more people were involved in sharing the content. A detailed update will be released by Patna police once the interrogation is completed.

The case was registered at Darbhanga Cyber Police Station on the directions of SSP Jagnath Reddy Jhala Reddy. Once the edited reels and morphed photos came to light, cyber police immediately began tracking online activity related to the videos. Their investigation eventually reached Gujarat, where the suspect was located and arrested.

Police said the incident highlights the growing problem of using artificial intelligence and digital tools to create misleading and offensive content. Authorities have called on the public not to share such material, warning that spreading fake or harmful digital posts could lead to strict legal action. Officials say the arrests are a reminder that cybercrime, misinformation and misuse of AI technology will not be taken lightly and will be dealt with decisively and in accordance with the law.
