In a new episode of eCornell's Cornell Keynotes podcast, Karan Girotra, Charles H. Dyson Family Professor of Management and professor of Operations, Technology and Innovation at the Cornell SC Johnson School of Management and Cornell Tech, explores the latest in the world of AI, including the latest on Apple Intelligence, Anthropic, and advancements in China.
He will explore the latest technological advancements in generative AI, including new video capabilities, autonomous agents, robotics, and next-generation models.
“The gap between China and the leading Open AI models is not as big as people think.
I was checking out this product from Alibaba called Qwen, which is pretty good, it's comparable to what anyone outside of OpenAI has, it's comparable to models from Meta and others, which was very impressive.
As for the video, OpenAI has released SORA but has not allowed anyone to actually interact with it.
As far as I know, the only company currently making video generation easily accessible to consumers is Kuaishou, a Chinese company. [you can] It will generate a video, but I don't think any US companies are doing this right now.
Pay attention to what's going on in China. It's not covered much in the U.S. media, but I think it's important for companies and individuals to know what's going on in China.”
