Data protection provider Commvault Systems Inc. today announced new artificial intelligence capabilities. This enables organizations to confidently accelerate AI adoption while maintaining control of their data, agents, and recovery.
This new feature enables enterprises to securely activate AI, discover and manage AI agents, and build and control agent workflows from within Commvault Cloud.
As organizations implement AI, many struggle to balance innovation with the risk of leaking sensitive data or losing control of AI agents. According to data from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd. cited by Commvault, 60% of AI leaders cite risk and compliance concerns and legacy system integration as the biggest barriers to agential AI adoption.
Our new products, Data Activate, AI Protect, and AI Studio, address the challenges faced by organizations deploying AI by helping organizations understand the impact of agent-driven changes, roll back changes if necessary, and reduce AI risk.
“Every era of business has created systems of record: enterprise resource planning for business operations, customer relationship management for customers, and now AI for enterprises,” said CEO Sanjay Mirchandani. “When the data supporting AI is compromised, so is the AI. If we can’t recover the data, we can’t trust the AI. Commvault Cloud is a system of record for AI resiliency.”
The first new release, Data Activate, allows organizations to classify and curate data from protected backup copies and prepare approved datasets in formats like Apache Iceberg and Parquet for use in large-scale language models and AI data platforms. We continually publish updated and vetted datasets, making it easy to keep your AI pipelines and trusted data in sync.
Meanwhile, AI Protect helps organizations identify risks, understand the impact of agent-driven changes, recover affected applications, and perform full-stack recovery across AI-driven environments. Discover and inventory agents across your environment, map agent activity to interacting AI stacks such as vector databases, and surface high-risk behaviors. When an issue occurs, teams can use AI Protect to quickly assess the impact and initiate a complete guided one-click recovery workflow to restore affected data, systems, and configurations to a known good state.
Finally, AI Studio enables organizations to create and use agents that address specific needs. It includes a repository of built-in agents for common resiliency use cases and enables teams to automatically and securely use Commvault’s Model Context Protocol Server and build custom agents that integrate with other enterprise systems.
According to Commvault, the combination of three AI capabilities enables teams to advance the AI resiliency lifecycle by securely activating data for AI purposes, to powering AI agents to discover, govern, protect, and recover across on-premises, software-as-a-service, and hybrid cloud environments.
Mirchandani spoke with theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestream studio, in February to discuss how Commvault is rebuilding cyber resilience as AI-driven systems accelerate the pace of change across data, applications, and access control.
