Collaborating with ABB Microsoft to Bring Generative AI to Industrial Applications

Applications of AI

ABB is working with Microsoft to integrate Azure OpenAI services into the ABB Capacity Genix Industrial Analytics and AI suite.

The two companies will work together to implement generative AI technology to help industrial customers uncover hidden insights in their operational data.

Improved data collection and restoration significantly improve efficiency and productivity, asset reliability, operational safety, reduced energy consumption, and environmental impact.

According to the company, ABB will integrate generative AI, including large-scale language models (LLMs) such as GPT-4, into its Genix platform and applications through its Azure OpenAI service, enabling capabilities such as code, image and text generation. When launched, Genix Copilot, a new application, provides intuitive functionality and improves the user experience by streamlining the flow of contextualized data across processes and operations.

This gives industry executives, functional specialists, and shop floor engineers real-time, actionable insights that help them make better decisions and improve productivity. These insights have the potential to extend asset life by up to 20% and minimize unplanned downtime by up to 60%.

Additionally, the solution has the ability to help customers achieve their sustainability and energy transition goals by providing advanced monitoring and optimization insights on industrial greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage. I have it.

With Genix Copilot, you can focus on protecting data and knowledge within your enterprise, while also capturing operator knowledge and facilitating collaborative decision-making across roles.

“This is an important step in the strategic partnership between ABB and Microsoft to accelerate the digital transformation of the industrial sector,” said Rajesh Ramachandran, Global Chief Digital Officer, ABB Process Automation. “We believe Genix Copilot will help our industrial customers achieve their combined goals of sustainability, operational excellence and improved asset performance. Extending generative AI capabilities across ABB’s industrial digital solutions This will usher customers into a new era of AI, enabling billions of better decisions.”

Ralph Haupter, President of EMEA at Microsoft, said: “We believe the organizations best positioned for long-term success are those that modernize and scale their data platforms.” “By applying advanced digital capabilities such as Azure OpenAI Service, ABB’s Genix has been enhanced to effectively manage contextualized data, while also helping drive the digital transformation essential for growth and lasting change.”
