Claude is now available on Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft 365 Copilot \ Anthropic

Applications of AI

Today, Microsoft and Anthropic announced an expansion of their partnership. As part of the partnership, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Haiku 4.5, and Opus 4.1 models are now available in public preview on Microsoft Foundry. Azure customers can build production applications and enterprise agents here.

This allows businesses to build Claude, the world’s best model for coding, agents, and office tasks, while using the existing Microsoft ecosystem. Developers can also use Microsoft Foundry’s Claude model using Claude Code, an AI coding agent.

In addition to the existing integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot, where Claude powers the Researcher agent to perform complex multi-step investigations and also enables custom agent development in Copilot Studio, Microsoft’s Excel agent mode includes the option to build and edit spreadsheets directly in Excel using Claude in preview. Now you can use Claude to generate formulas, analyze data, identify errors, and iterate on solutions right inside your Excel spreadsheet.

For companies that have already invested in Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft 365 Copilot, implementing new AI capabilities often means navigating separate vendor contracts and billing systems, adding weeks or months of procurement overhead. These integrations remove those barriers.

Build with Claude on Microsoft Foundry

Claude is available on Microsoft Foundry through serverless deployment, allowing developers to scale while Anthropic manages the infrastructure. This integration allows developers to:

  • Start building now. Deploy Claude through Foundry APIs, tools, and workflows
  • Use an existing Azure contract. Claude is eligible for the Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) and supports current Azure contracts and billing, eliminating the need for separate vendor approvals.
  • Build in the language of your choice. Access Claude using Python, TypeScript, and C# SDKs with Microsoft Entra authentication

Claude is available in a global standard deployment rolling out today using standard API pricing, with US DataZone coming soon. Please see our pricing page for more information.

Choose the model that fits your use case

Microsoft customers can access Claude’s frontier models directly in Foundry.

Sonnet 4.5 is the world’s best coding model and the strongest model for building complex agents. Use Sonnet 4.5 when you need cutting-edge performance for advanced inference, multi-step agent workflows, and autonomous coding tasks.

Haiku 4.5 is our fastest model, offering nearly state-of-the-art performance at one-third the cost of Sonnet. Haiku 4.5 is deployed in high-volume applications where speed and cost efficiency are critical, including subagents, customer support automation, content moderation, and real-time coding assistance.

Opus 4.1 is an exceptional model suitable for specialized inference tasks. Use Opus 4.1 for complex, multi-step problems that require sustained concentration and rigorous attention to detail.

All models support a variety of Foundry’s Claude Developer Platform features, including code execution tools, web search and fetch, citations, vision, tool usage, prompt caching, and more. Please see the documentation for other supported features.
