In China, companies are starting to use artificial intelligence to develop digital replacements for laid-off employees.
Azel News I will report it.
According to reports, workers are being replaced by AI agents such as Colleague Skill. These systems are trained on a wide range of personal work data, including business communications, screenshots of messages, project files, and internal documents. As a result, the AI “double” can not only perform tasks, but also imitate the communication style and decision-making patterns of employees.
Many employees complain that they were required to document their workflow and explain in detail the logic of their decisions before being fired. After their firing, these responsibilities were reportedly taken over by an AI system trained based on their own input.
A similar trend is emerging in the U.S., where technology companies are aggressively cutting jobs as they deploy artificial intelligence, according to Bloomberg. In March alone, technology employers cut 18,720 jobs. This is a 24% increase over March 2025. Since the beginning of the year, total layoffs in the sector have exceeded 52,000.
Experts say this trend signals a new phase of automation, where AI will no longer just assist workers, but will directly replace them. At the same time, important ethical and legal questions arise about data ownership, employee rights, and whether employees should be compensated when their knowledge is ultimately used to train systems that replace them.
Interestingly, some analysts believe that this change could lead to the emergence of entirely new professions such as “AI trainer” and “digital identity manager” as companies increasingly rely on replicating human expertise in virtual form.
