Chinese artificial intelligence startup Deepseek has launched a new wave of international recruitment by advertising roles on LinkedIn, showing potential strategic pivots to leverage global AI talent. Joblists are the first platform in a few months, and will bolster efforts by the US counterpart open platform and meta platform to dominate the emerging artificial general information (AGI) race.
Last week, the Hangzhou-based company posted 10 job openings on a Microsoft-owned platform that includes three roles focused on AGI, with all positions based in Beijing and Hangzhou. All explanations are written in Mandarin, suggesting that Deepseek still prioritizes Chinese-speaking candidates, but the use of LinkedIn indicates its intention to broaden the scope of recruitment across mainland China.
This move is important as LinkedIn shuts down the localized Chinese version in 2021. This means that job seekers who access these posts are likely to be based outside of China, particularly in areas such as Singapore, Hong Kong and North America. Previously, Deepseek relied on domestic platforms to source talent.
