Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko told the Global Times at a press conference on Thursday that he attended the global digital trade fair in Hangzhou, Z Jiang Province, eastern China, where he saw the world's top innovations, learned from key technologies, and was discussing China, one of the global leaders of AI and is in discussions with Chinese companies that have potential cooperation.

Dmitry Grigorenko, head of the Russian Government Enforcement Bureau, also said that the outcome of China's AI development is not only in the development of language models, but also in applying AI to mature products, services and applications.

“We were interested in working with Chinese companies and actually discussed these topics,” he told Global Times.

During the visit, Dmitry Grigorenko emphasized that Russia has special significance in relations with China, according to the Russian government. Currently, bilateral cooperation is focused on building independent financial infrastructures and strengthening industrial and technological sovereignty. In a statement released by the Russian government, the debate was identified as having a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence and being one of the most promising areas of joint cooperation.

Regarding the focus of his visit to the expo, he said that the main topic discussed was the application of AI in digital trade. “We are also developing AI in Russia and establishing an AI development centre. We are actively applying AI to provide government services in state governance and digital form,” he said.

He pointed out that AI development is also a key priority in Russia. Countries advance at different speeds, but AI is recognized as a transformative technology that can increase efficiency, productivity and restructure many sectors, and plays an important role in both digitalization and trade.

The 4th Global Digital Trade Expo, an event that promotes digital trade and industrial cooperation between partners, is currently underway in Hangzhou. At this year's expo, artificial intelligence appeared on the central stage and showed how innovation can change into real-world applications in home cities, Xinhua reported.
