Cheating AI fruit video is the latest trend sweeping the internet

AI Video & Visuals

We’ve been hearing for a while now that artificial intelligence will “disrupt” the television and film industry. But if recent trends in social media are any indication, major studios and small filmmakers alike have nothing to worry about right now.

Last month, a video by TikTok user @trombonechef started gaining huge popularity online. The video shows anthropomorphic fruits tricking their respective mates, usually accompanied by a large fruit. The first video showed a strawberry woman who begins an affair with Nasu’s boss, who later ends up having a child who bears no resemblance to her husband.

These videos aren’t the most impressive or productive uses of AI, but they quickly took the internet by storm and spread like wildfire across social media. This trend has even affected content-only accounts, which often tell quick stories about betrayal in clunky AI-generated voiceovers. These clips have garnered millions of views, with one clip by @trombonechef alone racking up over 26 million views.

Since then, the videos have only gotten more deranged, with more ridiculous incidents of fruit cheating, including one where a strawberry woman simply throws her child off a yacht. Some of the videos are racist, but it’s unclear if that’s the intention in the minds of people who feel compelled to send out slop like this to AI.

Check out some reactions to the strange trend below.
