The company said it is testing the technology with online publishers who have partnered with OpenAI to help build the search engine, as well as with a small number of users.

“Finding answers on the web can be a time-consuming effort, and often requires multiple tries to get relevant results,” the company said in a blog post. “We believe that by enhancing our models' conversational capabilities with real-time information from the web, it will be faster and easier to find what you're looking for,” it added. Users can interact with SearchGPT through conversational queries and ask follow-up questions as if they were talking to a human, OpenAI said.
OpenAI will challenge Google, Microsoft Bing and Perplexity

Google recently added AI-generated summaries of query results (called “Summaries”) to its search engine.
