Boman Irani celebrates the 16th anniversary of 3 Idiots and revisits Virus. The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, broke records, won awards and remains a classic of Bollywood.
“3 Idiots'' concludes 16 years after its release.
As 3 Idiots comes to a close 16 years after its release, Boman Irani revisits one of the most unforgettable characters of his career, Deen Vir Sahastrabuddha, aka Virus. Strict, intimidating, and rooted in discipline, this character came to symbolize a rigid educational system driven by rank and grades. To commemorate the milestone, Bowman shared an AI-generated viral video on Instagram. In it, he appears upside down and writes, “Celebrating 16 years of 3 Idiots” with a looping visual.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan, 3 Idiots redefined mainstream Hindi cinema with its blend of humour, heart and sharp social commentary. Through Virus, the film held a mirror up to institutional pressures. His character became someone audiences feared and loved to quote, and his dialogue and gestures lived on through pop culture, memes, and everyday conversation.
On the work front, Boman Irani will next be seen in Prabhas-starrer 'Raja Saab', which is scheduled to release on January 9. The film sees him step into unique new territory as a paranormal investigator, adding another interesting chapter to his ever-evolving body of work.
