BITSian diaspora invited to partner in national AI mission

IT, Electronics and Telecommunications Minister D. Sridhar Babu has invited BITS Pilani alumni from all over the world to work with the Government of Telangana to position Hyderabad as a major global hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Speaking at the second day of the BGM 2026 conclave held at the BITS Pilani campus in Hyderabad on Saturday, he said the state's diaspora could act as a “force multiplier” in strengthening Telangana's innovation ecosystem and taking its AI ambitions forward.

In a virtual address, BITS Chief Minister Pilani Kumar Mangalam Birla spoke about the 'Spirit of BITS' and emphasized the importance of ethical leadership amidst rapid technological disruption. He said BITS' tradition lies not only in academic excellence, but also in the resilience and adaptability of its graduates.

The day-to-day discussion was on purposeful human-centered AI and India's frontier technologies. Also featured were sessions with BITSians in the civil service, a 90-day startup launch workshop, and the 'Impact Dolphins' social initiative.

Khammam District Collector Anudeep Durishetti has been awarded the Young Alumni Achiever Award 2026 for his contribution and support in public life.
