Beartooth releases video hours before release over AI artist ‘liar’ controversy

Metalcore giants Beartooth have canceled a planned lyric video release due to controversy over AI. Hours before the clip was released, the band canceled it. What is their reason? The artist who made it lied about using AI.

“Hello lovely people. This morning I posted a teaser for a new song that has been flagged for AI,” frontman Caleb Shomo wrote on social media. “The artist we commissioned for this project was adamant throughout the process that no AI was used in the creation of this lyric video.”

“Unfortunately, after many red flags and conversations this morning, we have learned that this is not the case,” Shomo continued. “We have no interest in using AI or artists lying about using AI to try to translate the blood, sweat, and tears that went into this album in any way, shape, or form.”

Afterwards, the singer explained, “My brother Luke, who worked tirelessly on the album art, worked tirelessly tonight as well to create a lyric video that we’re all proud of, and he’s rooting for us because he’s truly amazing.”

“This song will be posted as planned,” he added at the end, apparently referring to the band’s new single “Bulls-t.” “We love you and we love human creativity. Thank you for your understanding.”

It is unclear who the artist in question is or if he has commented on the controversy.

This new song is the third single from Beartooth’s new album. pure ecstasyafter “Free” and the title track “Pure Ecstasy”. This record will be recorded on August 28, 2026.
