Baidu also secured the world's top spot in patent applications related to deep learning. The Beijing-based tech giant has invested heavily in AI-related research and development. Baidu's core business R&D spending accounted for 21.67% of sales in 2023.

Ernie Bot, a chatbot similar to LLM and ChatGPT, has gained more than 200 million users since its debut in March 2023, and its application programming interface (API) is used 200 million times every day.
