Automation Anywhere introduces generative AI to its Automation Success Platform.
On June 1st, a robotic process automation (RPA) vendor announced three new generative AI capabilities within its automation platform. Automation Copilot and Generation AI for Business Users, Automation Copilot and Generation AI for Automators, and Document Automation and Generation AI. .
The RPA vendor showcased the Success Platform during the Imagine 2022 conference in October. The platform includes an Automation Co-Pilot and a digital assistant to help companies automate their business operations.
Now, by incorporating generative AI technology into the platform, companies can expand the number of business processes they can automate, the vendor said.
The first Generative AI feature is Generative AI for Automation Copilots and Autometers. This allows automation designers to create automations using generative AI models. Additionally, users can converse with their co-pilot using natural language.
Automation Copilot and Generative AI for Business Users helps you enable generative AI in any computer application and use it to create and summarize content, send emails, and provide recommendations. Finally, according to the vendor, business users will be able to extract and summarize data from unstructured or structured documents using Generative AI and Document Summarization.
Automation Anywhere also revealed that the Success Platform now supports any large language model or cloud platform. Additionally, the vendor said it is working with Google Cloud as well as AWS, Microsoft, OpenAI and Nvidia as part of extended partnerships.
Automation Anywhere Strategy
RPA vendors’ forays into generative AI follow a move by other RPA vendors to incorporate popular technologies into their systems.
Business process automation and CX vendor Pegasystems announced several generative AI capabilities and products last week.
“There’s a lot of hedging going on right now about the best path for embedded artificial intelligence,” said Matt Mullen, an analyst at Deep Analysis. But the path Automation Anywhere is taking is pragmatic, he said, as it puts LLM choices in the hands of business users.
For example, an automation vendor Co-Pilot for Business user allows clients to “bring your license” to choose from OpenAI, OpenAI for Azure, Google LLM via Vertex AI, Amazon Sagemaker, Jumpstart, Bedrock .
“This points to the fact that many, perhaps most, vendors try to remain largely agnostic. [generative AI model] GPT, who knows if the underlying model from elsewhere will sooner or later be more appropriate,” Mullen said.
Additionally, giving users a choice of LLMs and cloud providers will expand Automation Anywhere’s addressable market, Forrester analysts said. JP Gounder.
He said Forrester sees RPA as a pathway for companies to adopt AI technology to solve specific business problems, so it would be interesting for Automation Anywhere to integrate generative AI into their products. added.
“It is too early to assess how Automation Anywhere’s strategy will play out in the market, but they believe how generative AI and automation can solve business problems and potentially improve productivity. It presented a good story about a practical use case that highlights how we can improve our performance,” said Gownder. He said.
Choice of cloud and LLM
Automation Anywhere’s partnerships with various cloud providers and AI vendors will also help address some of the security issues companies encounter when incorporating generative AI capabilities into their workflows.
For example, AWS, Google, and Microsoft all have ways to secure data used within LLMs, says Automation Anywhere COO Mike Micucci. Additionally, Automation Anywhere employs a human-participation concept, aiming to make business users comfortable with the output they receive from generative AI, he said.
Overall, Automation Anywhere hopes to help companies reduce the cost of building automation and increase the number of applications that can be automated, Micucci said.
Automation Co-Pilot and Generative AI for business users are now generally available. Automation Co-Pilot and Generative AI for Automators were available in early preview in July and sign-ups are open now. Document Automation and Generative AI will be available in Q3.
