Taiwan’s Asustek Computer plans to introduce one of the first services that will allow companies to harness the potential of generative artificial intelligence while maintaining control over their data.
The novelty of the Taipei-based company’s product, called AFS Appliance, is that all hardware is installed at the customer’s own premises to maintain security and control. Built on Nvidia Corp.’s chip technology, the AI computing platform is operated by Asustek (also known as Asus) and updated with new data.
A big concern with services like OpenAI is that they operate through online data centers that can expose sensitive information. Samsung Electronics Co. has banned an employee from using OpenAI’s ChatGPT after discovering that it uploaded confidential code.
