Artificial intelligence, one of last year’s biggest protagonists, is well represented in the world of children. Toys, video games, and mobile phones are increasingly powered by AI. As digital natives, they are well versed in managing AI-powered deliverables, but they are also the most vulnerable to its impact, completely unaware of the consequences of the data being processed.
As a parent, this can be worrying. Screen addiction can prevent children from making meaningful social connections and developing the creativity that characterizes childhood. But what about data? As a result of this concern, the Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications and the UAE’s Women in AI organized a ‘Technology and AI We held an event titled “Impact on Children”. How to educate children to use AI effectively and responsibly.
“When we talk about AI, we need to follow some principles, and companies should follow these principles when it comes to education,” said Hanadi Saleh Al-Hanadi, director of child safety at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah. Mr. Yafai said: “For example, Chat GPT’s AI system should be developed to be suitable for children. It is also important for parents to educate their children on how to use this kind of technology. and the companies working on it need to provide teachers and parents with insight into how AI is being used.”
He added that peer-to-peer platforms are needed to make children aware of the technology and hacking methods regarding the risks it poses to them. “Kids don’t know which links contain the correct information, so recognizing that at school is one of the first steps he takes,” he says. “In the UAE we have set up awareness programs and made our children ambassadors. Now they are in college and they are producing such a smart generation and sharing information in the right way.This is what we want. generation and this is a successful endeavor.”
Such fears among parents about the right use of technology and AI are common.
“We are creating robots that can mimic social intelligence, but it can be difficult to maintain long-term relationships while the robot is reading all the information,” he says.
Hanan Salam, co-founder of Women in AI. “But we need to distance ourselves from the development of technology in all things. What we need is to spend time with our children. Children are becoming more and more antisocial. We must be ethical. We need to sit down and discuss these issues and the risks of privacy concerns, and companies need to create policies to ensure good health when designing AI.”
