Ario secures $16 million to use AI to tackle invisible labor issues » World Business Outlook

Applications of AI

Ario, the AI-powered assistant for parents, announced it has raised $16 million in seed funding from top-tier investors including Wing Venture Capital, Floodgate, Bain Capital Ventures, Moxxie and prominent angel investors.

American parents spend hours each week juggling household chores, from planning family meals to scheduling play dates for the kids. Ario is on a mission to alleviate this invisible labor by understanding the personal context of tasks and taking smart actions to save parents valuable time.

“Ario is building the AI personal assistant that real families want – hyper-personal, proactive, and focused on bringing real, practical value to users,” said Floodgate founder Mike Maples. “With this investment, we're excited to see how this world-class team will unlock even more value for users through greater data integrations to enable more nuanced, custom recommendations and high-impact features purpose-built to free up parents' time.”

Ario

Starting today, beta access is available to everyone. Ario enables personalized, intelligent actions by helping users connect with the apps they use every day. When users add their Amazon, DoorDash, Google Calendar, and X (Twitter) accounts, Ario will gain a deeper understanding of their lifestyle, preferences, and routines to help them save more time.

Ario can:

  • From a single photo, it adds an entire school schedule to a user's Google Calendar.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts between work meetings and kids' soccer practice and suggest solutions
  • It informs users of Amazon return deadlines and makes personalized recommendations based on their shopping habits.
  • We'll create a custom vacation plan that takes into account your child's nap times, developmentally appropriate activities, and other circumstances.
  • Provides personalized restaurant recommendations and meal planning tips based on recent DoorDash orders

Importantly, Ario has a novel promise and approach to data: Ario allows users to access their data from other platforms in minutes, and gives users full control when adding data. Unlike other tools that sell user data to third parties or advertise with that data, Ario helps users access their data and achieve true data portability. When users connect their apps to their Ario accounts, Ario does not claim ownership of that data. Additionally, users can access their data from other platforms in minutes, instead of completing the platform's own cumbersome “data access” requests, which can take days and several steps.

“For years, consumers have had to choose between product functionality and maintaining ownership of their data,” said Sumit Agarwal, CEO and co-founder of Ario. “Ario is built to actually relieve people of the burden of managing their lives, without sacrificing control.”

Ario's leadership team is comprised of data privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer product experts. Co-founder Sumit Agarwal was previously co-founder of Shape Security (acquired by F5), a company that protects B2C applications from automated fraud attacks, where Ario co-founder Mengmeng Chen also held leadership roles. Ario has recently added leaders from major consumer companies such as Netflix and Uber, Amazon's Alexa, and Microsoft's Copilot and Turing teams to its team.
