AI Video & Visuals

Apple Music has introduced new metadata tags that allow record labels and distributors to disclose when artificial intelligence was used to create the music, artwork, or visual media associated with a release on the platform. This development was first reported by 9to5Mac.

According to an email sent to Apple Music partners, the new “Transparent tag” Applies to future content delivered to the platform. Labels and distributors will be able to indicate when it will be released. “Material part” Some of the releases were created using AI technology.

This update introduces four different tag categories that cover the key creative components of digital music releases.

artwork Tags can be applied when artificial intelligence is used to generate important parts of an album’s artwork. This includes both static cover art and motion graphics associated with the release.

tracking The tag indicates that AI was used to generate a significant portion of the audio recording itself. These tags are applied specifically at the track level.

composition Tags are applied when artificial intelligence contributes to the composition process. This may include AI-generated lyrics and other components within the track.

Finally, music video Tags can be used when AI is responsible for generating key visual elements within a music video, whether the video is bundled with an album release or delivered as standalone content.

You can apply multiple transparent tags to the same release if needed. For example, the truck has composition and tracking While AI will be tagged if it played a role in producing both the musical structure and the audio recording, release artwork may also include AI-generated artwork tags.

Apple says it’s up to each partner to decide what qualifies as AI-generated content. This approach is similar to how distribution partners currently manage metadata categories such as genre, credits, and contributor roles.

The company says the introduction of the transparency tag aims to make the role of artificial intelligence in creative production more clear as generation tools become more widely used across the music industry.
