Apple may be looking to get even deeper into generative AI. The Cupertino-based tech giant has posted at least a dozen job listings focused on machine learning. TechCrunch report The job listing was first posted on April 27.
“AI represents a huge opportunity to improve Apple’s products and experiences for billions of people around the world,” said one job listing. “We will develop our expertise in augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) while leveraging innovative generative models to build foundational applications based on Apple’s cutting-edge technology. “
Apple has lagged behind its tech peers in pushing toward an AI future. (And just a few days ago, we cracked down on employees using ChatGPT for fear of accidentally leaking trade secrets.)
At the company’s latest earnings call, Tim Cook declined to directly comment on how Apple will use generative AI, saying, “We don’t comment on product roadmaps.” I think it’s very important to be careful and thoughtful about how you approach these things. And as has been discussed in various places, there are many issues that need to be sorted out. But the possibilities are certainly very interesting. …we see AI as a giant and will continue to incorporate it into our products on a very thoughtful basis. ”
Generative AI hasn’t made its way into Apple products, but the company is currently using machine learning in its products, among others for features like fall detection, crash detection, and heart monitoring.
In a job listing, Apple said it was looking for people who were “excited by how the latest advancements in this space can change the way people communicate, create, connect and consume media.” Says.
