AI News

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple has been holding preliminary internal discussions about the possibility of a likely bid for the bewildered AI. The discussion is in the early stages and the company is not directly involved with Perplexity executives.
Adrian Perica, head of Apple's mergers and acquisitions, reportedly discussed the possibility of integrating Perplexity's AI-driven search tool with Apple's service chief Eddy Cue and other AI leaders.

As the transaction progresses, Apple can integrate Perplexity's technology into the Safari browser. This is a major shift from years of dependence on Google. This comes as AI-powered platforms like Perplexity and ChatGpt gain traction, particularly among younger audiences, and undermine Google's advantage.

The High Tech Giants Compete to Enhance AI Features

Apple's move follows the recent launch of Apple Intelligence with an iOS update, and demonstrates its commitment to improving the user experience with AI. Large tech companies are increasingly investing in AI-driven innovation, and Meta has previously thought it had gained some stump earlier this year, and recently committed nearly $15 billion to expand its AI.

Confusing evaluation and market position

The Bloomberg report also noted that the confusion recently shut down a funding round that valued the startup at $14 billion. Nvidia-backed by Perplexity offers AI-driven search tools that generate concise information summary that competes with rivals such as Openai's ChatGpt and Google's Gemini. The success of the acquisition at this level would mark Apple's biggest acquisition to date.
