Similar incident of Pakistani man celebrating Diwali
This isn’t the first time such glimpses of camaraderie have surfaced on social media. For Diwali this year, a Pakistani man living in London posted a video on Instagram celebrating the Hindu festival of lights. The video started with a man preparing for Diwali at his home in the UK.
He decorated his house with flowers, lit diyas and enjoyed sparklers with his Asian friends. At one point, they were all seen singing together and then setting off fireworks on the streets of London. “POV: Pakistanis celebrate Diwali in London,” the text overlay reads. Meanwhile, the caption read, “Happy Diwali from a Pakistani.”
His followers liked this video.
One person chimed in: “Oh, we need more people like this.”
Another said: “So lovely. I don’t understand the hate here.”
“This is the cutest thing I’ve seen on the internet today. I hope the next generation has more people like you who respect and celebrate each other’s differences. Sending you lots of love from India,” a sweet comment read.
