Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. achieved important milestones in areas such as edge computing, hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence.
HPE President and Chief Executive Officer Antonio Neri (pictured) spearheaded the company’s transformation, positioning it at the forefront of technological innovation. HPE continues to shape the future of the technology landscape with a focus on customer satisfaction, sustainability and differentiated products.
“If you remember, in 2018 I said Edge was the next frontier and it would be a huge opportunity for all of us,” Neri said. “We made a bet, and that bet paid off. Are we profitable and growing?
Neri spoke with HPE Discover’s theCUBE Industry Analysts Dave Vellante and Lisa Martin during an exclusive broadcast on SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio, theCUBE. They discussed Neri’s insights and shed light on HPE’s differentiated strategy, AI efforts, and cultural change. (*Disclosure below.)
HPE’s visionary approach
As a result of HPE’s commitment to driving innovation and meeting customer needs, the company’s edge business has grown threefold, demonstrating success in this area. Additionally, the company’s hybrid focus on the cloud, evidenced by partnerships with industry leaders such as VMware Inc. and Amazon Web Services Inc., underscores the value of its strategy.
According to Neri, HPE’s differentiated strategy is focused on providing customers with an integrated cloud operations experience. The company’s GreenLake platform covers a wide range of solutions and services that enable organizations to operate efficiently in today’s cloud-native world. HPE’s focus on connectivity, both in terms of wireless and wired solutions, emphasizes our commitment to connecting people and data. By treating every aspect of your infrastructure as a cloud instance, HPE provides a consistent and seamless experience across different deployment models.
According to Neri, it’s important for HPE to balance its approach to innovation by combining organic development with mergers and acquisitions and partnerships. The company excels at organic innovation, as evidenced by GreenLake’s success, but it also recognizes the value of outside innovation and talent. Strategic acquisitions such as Aruba and recent additions such as OpsRamp and Determined AI have strengthened HPE’s portfolio and complemented our internal capabilities.
“We can’t innovate everything, but innovation for me is like a three-legged stool. First and foremost is our organic innovation,” Neri said. “The other is that we need to complement our own innovation with external innovation. And the third, he said, is the broader partner ecosystem, part of which is It’s about making strategic bets on small start-ups.”
AI and HPC Drive Profitability
AI is also a major tipping point and is poised to disrupt every industry, Neri noted. HPE’s unique opportunity lies in a hybrid AI strategy that spans the training, tuning, and inference stages of the AI lifecycle. By leveraging its expertise in AI models, infrastructure scalability and optimized software, HPE is well positioned to make his HPC and AI businesses more profitable.
“If you think about how public clouds are designed, [it] is a large-scale traditional network architecture. When we move to this architecture, which is an AI-native architecture, the network is completely different,” he said. “We have our own network…our network is open to multiple ecosystems and can support any of them.”
