Syracuse University today announced its groundbreaking partnership between AI research and safety companies. This collaboration makes Syracuse one of the first universities in the United States, providing institutional access to Claude, highlighting its position as the country's most digitally connected campus.
This partnership is based on Syracuse's long-standing leadership in digital innovation. From one of the earliest adopters of campus fiber networking to partnerships with JMA Wireless, Syracuse has consistently invested in future digital infrastructure and resources to power private 5G networks and convert the JMA wireless dome into the country's most connected university stadium.
“Expanding access to Claude for all members of our community is another step towards making Syracuse University the most digitally connected campus in America,” says Jeff Rubin, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer. “By equipping all students, faculty and staff members with Claude, we not only promote innovation, but also prepare to prepare ourselves to navigate, criticize and co-create with AI in a real-world context.”
Along with Claude, Syracuse students, faculty and staff have access to advanced AI tools that support academic research, streamline administrative tasks, promote creativity, and enable innovative teaching and learning.
“Generative AI is already changing the way we think, work and learn,” says Deputy Prime Minister, Provost and Chief Academic Officer Lois Agnew. “Making Claude accessible to everyone in Syracuse provides a safe, reliable, ethical and powerful platform that enables students, faculty and staff to leverage the possibilities of AI in classrooms, labs, or other academic and creative pursuits.”
Humanity says this partnership is a model for higher education.
