Jamie Siminoff, founder of Ring, which oversees Amazon's Blink Security Cameras, Key In-Home Delivery Service, and Sidewalk Wireless Network, announced Wednesday that all the promotional applications in the RBKS organization must explain how employees' workplaces use.

After a two-year break, Shiminoff returned to Amazon in April, said the new policy aims to reward “innovative thinking” and strengthen the culture of speed and efficiency.

“When you combine innovative technology with missions, you create something truly special,” Siminoff wrote in an email. A copy of it was obtained by Business Insider.

A Ring spokesperson told BI that the changes will only apply to Amazon's RBKS employees.

The change highlights the growth trends of high-tech companies to incorporate AI use into the talent assessment process.

Shopify announced in April that managers must prove that AI cannot do a better job before hiring new people. Microsoft asks some managers to evaluate employees based on how they use internal AI tools. Meanwhile, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy warned last month that AI will reduce the company's workforce by improving efficiency.

In his email, Siminoff said he must explain how employees seeking promotions used generated AI or other AI technologies to improve customer experiences and improve operational efficiency. They are also asked to cite the specific AI projects they have worked on and achieve measurable impacts.

According to email, managers need to show how to use AI tools to achieve “less” and not growing or not growing.

“In the spirit of culture on the first day, we will continue to learn this, repeat and improve,” writes Siminoff.
