Amazon India today announced the registration dates for the fourth edition of Machine Learning (ML) Summer School, an immersive program aimed at providing an opportunity for students to learn key machine learning skills and technologies from Amazon scientists and prepare them for a career in machine learning in the industry. The registration period is from May 31st to June 21st, 2024. The free educational course will run over four weekends in July and will cover eight modules that will provide students an opportunity to gain skills on key ML topics. This includes supervised learning, deep neural networks, dimensionality reduction, unsupervised learning, sequential models, reinforcement learning, generative AI and LLM, causal inference, with a focus on fostering a solid foundation in both theoretical concepts and real-world applications.
The Machine Learning Summer School is open to all engineering students pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree from a recognized institution in India and who are set to graduate in 2025 or 2026. Eligible students will have to undergo an assessment, after which the top 3000 students will be enrolled in the Machine Learning Summer School.

Amazon's ML Summer School takes a different approach than traditional programs, providing a unique learning experience that combines theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The sessions conducted as part of the summer school gave me unique insight into how most of the algorithms and concepts I learned in college are applied to solving large-scale problems across Amazon. Thanks to the program, I was able to secure an internship on the Automatic Speech Recognition team in the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) organization. I was able to gain hands-on experience training speech models at scale, which directly contributed to other ongoing projects within Amazon. Overall, the summer school program provided me with a great learning experience.“
Since the pilot program in 2021, Amazon ML Summer School has evolved rapidly and experienced extraordinary growth. The inaugural program attracted over 3,900 applications from students, with over 300 students receiving the opportunity to participate. Building on this success, in 2023, it was expanded to include engineering students from accredited institutions across India, attracting over 61,000 applications and 20,000 women to enroll in the course.
