Alibaba Group has developed an AI video generation model called HappyHorse 1.0, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Thursday.
WSJ reports that HappyHorse 1.0 has been ranked No. 1 on third-party site Artificial Analysis’ text-to-video conversion leaderboard since its launch.
“HappyHorse is currently in internal beta testing and we plan to release an API in the near future,” said a spokesperson for TokenHub, Alibaba’s new AI-focused organization.
Alibaba’s move comes as Chinese internet companies accelerate their push into the AI video market, with TikTok owner ByteDance announcing its video generation model SeaDance 2.0 earlier this year.
China’s AI video models dominate the top artificial analytics leaderboards after OpenAI shut down its Sora video platform app and related features last month as part of a strategic shift, WSJ reported.
In parallel with developing its own model, Alibaba is also investing in AI video startups. The company recently invested in China’s ShengShu Technology, which owns the popular video generation model Vidu.
