AI will not surpass human intelligence: Judge Ramachandran

Kochi: Kerala High Court Judge Devan Ramachandran said the petitioner does not support computers using artificial intelligence to resolve human cases. Artificial intelligence never outweighs human intelligence, he said.Judge Ramachandran was giving lectures on “Judiciary and Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” organized by ICAN, the Kozhikode Press Club and ICJ Alumni Association. He said controlling social media was not feasible and he was not the one who supported such control. He noted that opinions are now valued more than the truth. That's a time when even falsehoods may seem true, he added. “The truth is perceived differently by individuals. In the age of artificial intelligence, there is a flood of information, making it difficult to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. He added that he was trolled for judgments he never gave. “The judge of Delhi High Court once said that both the plaintiff and the defendant knew the truth, but the judge would not,” he said.“It is often said that photography is worth a thousand words. How can we trust photos in these times? We saw an image of Donald Trump joining Kumbh Mela on social media,” he added.Kozhikode Press Club Secretary PK Sajith, ICAN President Ummer Puthiyottil, Vice Chairman PV Aravind, and PS Rakesh also spoke at the event.
