VENICE, Fla. — A Tampa Bay company has developed technology that uses artificial intelligence to send personalized video responses to customers’ emails and text messages, replacing traditional autoresponder systems.
Magnifi founder Doug Dibert Jr. said the platform analyzes incoming messages and automatically delivers pre-recorded human video responses tailored to customer questions.
“Where will AI come into play?” asked Tampa Bay 28’s Michael Paluska.
“So AI, in conjunction with our platform, can elevate that video and humanize that communication by delivering a video response instead of delivering a bunch of text. It’s still kind of AI delivering the message, but our platform can help deliver a video response that features a human,” Dibert said.
The technology works similarly to chatbots, but instead of a text response, customers receive a video response featuring a real person.
“It’s all about building trust, just as video is a trust layer. As we’ve seen, video is no longer about social media content; now video is about helping businesses build trust in a digital-first, AI-driven world,” Dibert said.
Dibert said demand for customized video introductions through the platform is also growing.
“They can submit a request for a video testimonial. So on our platform, they can click on a link, hold up their phone to record a video testimonial, hit send, and they’re done,” Dibert said.
However, not all responses come from humans. Dibert said Magnifi is developing custom AI avatars for businesses when human video responses aren’t available.
“So they see a human doing this. That makes them feel good as a consumer. As opposed to that, I’m talking to another bot. Even though they’re still talking to a bot, we’re humanizing the whole experience,” Dibert said.
Dibert said companies that adopt AI-powered trust-building tools will have a competitive advantage.
“So the human responses and their text, but it’s all pre-recorded and the AI delivers that video with the right response at the right time. Because again, the companies that are going to win in the future are going to be about the big companies that are going to use AI to build trust. I think right now, we’re seeing AI become more prevalent in the world and trust being eroded,” Dibert said.
Dibert also said the company is experimenting with AI avatars as visual stand-ins, noting that even AI-generated faces can be more effective than blocks of text.
“So, actually, I’ve had myself in there for a while, but I feel like she looks a lot more attractive than I do. Yeah, but is she completely AI? Yeah, this is completely AI. Yeah, yeah, I mean, just having this is much more effective than just a chunk of text,” Dibert said.
