An Israeli organization released an AI-generated video of Ran Gviri, the last remaining prisoner of war in Gaza, and appealed to President Trump to repatriate him.
Jerusalem: An Israeli organization representing hostage families has released an AI-generated video of the last prisoner whose body is being held in Gaza.
The Hostage and Missing Families Forum released a one-minute clip of Ran Gviri on Tuesday.
It depicts an AI-generated image of Guviri sitting in a tunnel in Gaza, appealing to US President Donald Trump.
“Mr. President, I want you to understand this all the way through. Please take me home,” the AI figure said.
Gviri is 24 years old and was a police officer with Israel's Yasam elite police force at the time of the attack on October 7, 2023.
He was shot at Kibbutz al-Mim and then taken to Gaza, where he died.
Israeli authorities notified his parents in January 2024 that he was injured and could not be saved.
The forum said the video was released with the family's approval.
“Seeing and hearing Rani speak in her own voice is both moving and heartbreaking,” said her mother, Tariq.
She appealed to authorities not to allow him to return and proceed with the deal.
The ceasefire in Gaza, which began in October, remains fragile due to allegations of violations by both sides.
In the first phase, Palestinian militants were to return all 48 remaining hostages, both living and dead.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, the militants have released 47 hostages.
Subsequent steps include Israel's withdrawal and the establishment of an interim authority to replace Hamas in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with President Trump this month to discuss the next steps in the deal.
