Jakarta (Antara) – Ministry of Communications (Komdigi) implements the AI Talent Factory program to develop innovative digital talent that can leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to address national challenges.

Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, head of Komdigi Human Resource Development Agency, said the programme is aimed at not only being skilled in AI, but also creating talent that can drive innovation.

“AI Talent Factory not only creates beginner and intermediate talent, but is also a sophisticated level expert ready to tackle complex issues in the country,” Pudjianto said at the Ministry's release, which he received here on Saturday.

Nezar Patria, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, expressed optimism about Indonesia's ability to generate globally competitive AI talent. He encouraged local AI developers to use Indonesian linguistic and local wisdom when creating AI applications.

“I think it would be great if we could develop our own large-scale language model (LLM) using our own language. Our local languages are rich, our ethnic groups are diverse, our cultural heritage is extraordinary,” he explained.

Patria also emphasized the need to enhance the capabilities of Indonesian digital talent, so they can develop it to serve the public interest, not just users of technology.

“We need about 9 million digital talent, but we have to think beyond our users. We need the talent that can be both deployers and developers,” he added.

Previous reports show that Indonesia currently has 9.3 million digital talent, but demand for digital talent is projected to reach 12 million by 2030.

Therefore, AI talent development is part of President Prabowo Subianto's national development agenda, which aims to strengthen digital infrastructure.
