There are many news websites available, but given the limited time each day to read news websites, it is inefficient to visit multiple sites to stay up to date on local and global events. is. Imagine you have an app that collects all the news topics that interest you and displays them in one convenient place. This saves time and effort by providing a central source for news consumption.

Introducing Lumi News. This is a news aggregation app featuring the latest news from Malaysia and the rest of the world. Available in English, BM and Chinese, completely free to download and sign up.

What are the advantages of Rumi?

The app provides a personalized news feed, so when I first started using the app, I was able to choose my preferred language, favorite news sites, and topics like politics, technology, sports, food, and animals.

Then, automatically follow relevant news sites based on the topic you choose. You can also unfollow those news sites if you prefer. We also give you the option to follow news sites in Bahasa and Chinese.

You can also customize your notification settings to determine how many breaking news alerts you receive on your phone.

There is no limit to the number of articles and videos you can read in a day. Simple and modern UI design, easy to navigate and understand. Lumi also has a killer feature called AI News Brief powered by ChatGPT and ChatSonic.

This feature is available every Friday in English, Malayu and Chinese. Lumi claims that he sums up the week’s most important news fairly and concisely in one paragraph. Also includes links to relevant articles and videos from multiple publishers.

In addition, the app also provides a one-minute AI overview video. If you don’t have time to read a book, all you have to do is listen to a narrated video that highlights important headlines. You can also save articles to read later or share to social media platforms.

There are no ads in the app, but the news site shows ads. However, if you turn on “Reader Mode” in your display settings, you will no longer see ads. Note that Reader Mode works only with selected news sites.

For accessibility, you can turn on the OLED display and ‘dark mode’ which is great for reading at night. It also has a “wide view” option that enlarges fonts and thumbnails for easier reading.

What are the limits?

This app connects directly to the source and does not collect news from gated or walled news outlets such as Bloomberg, Malaysiakini, Malaysian Insight, Wall Street Journal, etc.

Additionally, the app’s refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz. Considering most smartphones these days have 120Hz displays, it would be great if Lumi offered that too. Then scrolling and browsing through apps will be more enjoyable.

Is it worth downloading Lumi News?

I think so. It’s free, easy to use, and provides a convenient way to get the latest news without having to manually visit another news site. The only thing I wish they could do is implement a 120Hz refresh rate.

If you are interested, you can download the Lumi News app from the App Store, Google Play Store and App Gallery.
