AI is not just a support tool, but also a key driver in optimizing marketing strategies, analyzing data and creating effective advertising campaigns, Vu Minh Ngoc, president of the Center for Ecommerce and Digital Technology (ECOMDX), said it was a recent seminar on ecommerce applications for young entrepreneurs.

This is especially important for new startups. Because it helps them scale quickly and stay competitive in the market.

While e-commerce is no longer a new trend, it has become an important factor that will help businesses develop and integrate into a global digital economy, NGOC said.

Although there are no exact numbers, he says, the number of startups in Vietnam's e-commerce sector remains very low compared to the industry's strong development potential.

Representatives from ECOMDX said it is very necessary to promote and create a favorable environment for young businesses in this field to develop.

With proper support and sustainable development strategies, e-commerce can become one of the key pillars of the digital economy, contributing to the creation of dynamic, healthy competitive markets.

The NGOC said it believes the current booming e-commerce market shows great potential and creates many opportunities for Vietnamese startups. Starting a business in the e-commerce sector is in line with government policies that promote the development of the digital economy.

The legal framework for e-commerce activities is becoming increasingly complete. He added that startups are encouraged through open policy mechanisms that promote favorable conditions for development and support from the national creative startup ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the country's e-commerce market is still entirely new compared to the e-commerce markets around the world, so Vietnam's startups still have much space, said the NGOC.

Another ECOMDX president, Cao Qui Long, said that in order to maximize the power of AI tools, new startups need to have clear and concrete strategies for each work goal.

Whether building a brand, promoting a product, or improving the customer experience, AI tools can effectively support processes optimization and creating value-added business.

In particular, in e-commerce, AI can help automate many stages, from analyzing market data and classifying customers to personalizing marketing campaigns, he added.

Currently, platforms like Shopee, Lazada and Tiktok Shop are offering startups the available AI tools, supporting product, pricing and advertising campaign optimization, thereby increasing the market's competitiveness.

Long also said that testing and adjustment of the results given by AI is extremely important to ensure maximum efficiency.

AI tools cannot replace humans, but when used properly, he added, unprecedented opportunities open up.

“The ability of young entrepreneurs to grasp and apply AI tools effectively will determine their success in the digital economy,” he emphasized.

According to Nguyen Huu Hung, deputy director of the Industrial and Trade Department of Quang Tri's Department of Department of Industry and Trade, infrastructure issues such as payment systems, warehouses, transportation, packaging and customs procedures are the major obstacles that startups must face.

But the biggest challenge for startups is their lack of creative thinking and the ability to find differences, he said.

Success relies not only on product quality but also on creativity in the design of sales applications, advertising campaigns, marketing and customer care design.
