Is the Indian workforce leading Unisys innovation charter globally?
The Indian market is essential to UNISYS's business and plays a major role in driving client innovation on a global scale. Currently, India accounts for a quarter of our workforce, with around 40% of global work being carried out there. This is largely due to the technical expertise found in the region and India's vibrant digital economy, making it a global leader in cloud computing and AI breakthroughs.
What challenges are seen in aging India's technological workforce with AI disruption?
India's job market is undergoing major changes due to rapid technological innovation, globalization and changing economic trends. And the demand for AI talent in the region is projected to grow at 15% compounded interest by 2027. This puts considerable pressure on the Indian workforce being ready for AI, especially as organizations are still determining the best way to leverage technology.
From recruiting and onboarding employees to working with people, you can see how AI can get in touch with everything within a global organization. While the industry has the power to increase productivity and enhance collaboration and automation, employees need a clear direction in how and when new tools are used. Thus, the challenges for leaders in India or elsewhere around the world are balanced by increasing their talent for adoption, implementation and measurement of AI. This requires organizations to strategically plan how they use AI and enable employees to take action.
What AI and high-tech skills do you take on?
We take great pride in providing career growth opportunities for our employees. And it's a priority to make our entire talented organisation a strong, technically-ready workforce. Unisys provides underlying AI and technology training to all employees, tailored to their duties and seniority levels. Additionally, we will always assess how technology is changing and how it may be delivered in combination with online and instructor-led training.
India is committed to promoting the next generation of technical talent through its annual UNISYS Innovation Programme (UIP). It is characterized by competition, combining young engineers with industry experts to develop creative, technology-centric, real-world solutions. The programme is just closing its 16th year, attracting an astonishing number of entries, with over 890 project submissions from 12,760 subscribers. Additionally, it has successfully established partnerships with over 200 universities. This often leads to student employment opportunities after graduation.
Agent AI is a new buzzword. Do you think this is a great opportunity for Unisys and its clients?
While many people may confuse Agent AI with other forms of genai or chatbots that use Agent AI on a daily basis, this technology has many clear and powerful features that revolutionize the way an organization operates and how people work. Unlike other forms of AI, agent AI operates with autonomy, making independent decisions, and pursues purpose as humans do.
By analyzing situations, learning from experience and adapting to new conditions, Agent AI can effectively manage and modernize an organization's technology and cloud infrastructure. Agent AI systems operate independently and can perform tasks and make decisions without continuous human input. It is often designed to achieve specific goals, including complex and multi-step processes, allowing you to learn from experience and adjust behavior to improve performance and outcomes. Therefore, this technology will increase overall productivity and help transform your processes. Understanding the overall skill of this technology, Unisys can help clients balance recruitment and optimization, depending on the best profits of their business. This kind of autonomy helps clients fill talent gaps, complement existing teams, and promote competitive differentiation.
