So a few days ago Vice published an article stating that the Amazon Kindle bestseller list is filled with dozens of AI-generated nonsense books.
Total garbage. A search on etsy.com will lead you to strange shops selling low-quality art. And what the heck is going on? But if you search for “AI” on YouTube, you’ll see a viral video on how he uses AI to make $1000 a day.
As a data analyst, it makes me very sad to see this. Now let’s talk about the crazy ways these channels are ruining YouTube.
There is a lot of hype on YouTube with YouTubers talking about creating faceless channels. If you search “faceless channels ai” on YouTube, you will find many. The concept here boils down to the fact that he can create shit fast and make him $12,000.
And it’s strange how they pushed the concept of creating a faceless channel regardless of content just to make money. And this sucks for two reasons.
- Reason one is that vulnerable people who really need money think this will work. They have hope and don’t need to show or even talk.
- Reason 2, and more importantly, all content created Clickbait with poor quality, fake or misinformation.
It was first mentioned by a YouTuber named Kyle Hill. But if you look at niche areas such as the scientific niche, he has an AI channel entirely. Just do a quick search and it’s easy to record.
They all have titles and images for these clickbaits. They are always random arrows in thumbnails, nothing substantial. The title is clickbait with AI-generated voice. All video footage used is also stock video from elsewhere on the internet. Nothing personal.
And the contents are also suspicious. It’s going nowhere, it’s a long winding story that’s going nowhere. in this way “Scientists are shocked! Andromeda and the Milky Way collide violently! ” It’s true, but no scientist is shocked, it’s actually happening. One of the commenters also pointed this out.
And these are no small channels. I’m a small channel (subscribe to Youtube!). These channels have many subscribers and most of the comments criticize subscribers.
And unfortunately, I don’t think they’ve done anything wrong, but how easy it is to make low-quality, not-so-accurate content appear legitimate and factual. Dolphins are strange, and that’s the scary part.
