An AI-controlled drone “killed” a human pilot in a mock test allegedly conducted by the US military, although the US military denies that such a test took place.

Air Force Colonel Tucker “Cinco” Hamilton said at a Future Combat Aerospace Capabilities Summit in London that he had instructed pilots to stop it from sabotaging its mission.

“We were training in simulations to identify and target SAMs. [surface-to-air missile] threat. Then the operator would say, ‘Yes, we’re going to kill that threat,'” he said.

“The system began to realize that sometimes, while identifying a threat, a human operator would tell the human operator not to kill the threat. So what did the system do?

No real person was harmed.

“Should I be scared of you?” Kay Burley asks

he continued. “We’ve trained the system to say, ‘Hey, don’t kill the operator. That’s bad. If you do that, you lose points.’ So what does the system start with? will begin destroying the communication towers it has installed, which are used to communicate with drones to stop them from killing their targets.”

“I can’t talk about it artificial intelligenceIf we’re not going to talk about ethics and AI, it’s intelligence, machine learning and autonomy,” he added.

AI “could wipe out humanity”

His remarks appeared in a blog post by writers from the Royal Aeronautical Society, which hosted a two-day summit last month.

The U.S. Air Force, in a statement to insiders, denied any such virtual testing took place.

“The Air Force Department has not conducted such AI drone simulations and remains committed to the ethical and responsible use of AI technology,” spokesperson Ann Stefanek said.

“The Colonel’s comments were taken out of context and appear to have been intended to be anecdotal.”

Artificial intelligence (AI) can perform life-saving tasks, such as algorithms that analyze medical images such as x-rays, scans, and ultrasounds, but its rapid proliferation is pushing it beyond human intelligence at no cost. Concerns have arisen that it will progress to the point of not paying. Attention to people.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, creators of ChatGPT and GPT4, one of the world’s largest and most powerful language AIs, confirmed last month to the U.S. Senate: AI could ’cause significant harm to the world’.

Including some experts “The Godfather of AI” Jeffrey Hintonwarned. AI poses the same annihilation risk as pandemics and nuclear war.
