Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leader shaping the future of the country through artificial intelligence. The state government has integrated AI into governance, education, agriculture, security and healthcare, creating new benchmarks for public welfare.From initiatives like AI Pragya to Agris, to plans to develop Lucknow as an AI city, UP is building a robust digital economy focused on transparency, productivity and efficiency of citizen services. In conjunction with the government of India's Vision 2047, the state's AI Policy and Skills Development Programme emphasizes that UP is not a consumer of technology, but a new hub for innovation. AI is becoming the backbone of governance and development in Uttar Pradesh. By integrating AI into youth-centered policies, agriculture, education and public services, the state is fostering a technology-savvy population that is ready for the future. The state government is working on a draft AI policy in line with Vision 2047. Through AI Bootcamps, staff from 30 departments are trained to effectively use AI in government processes. AI-based fraud detection and data analytics have also been introduced in some areas to make direct profit transfer (DBT) systems more accurate and transparent.Under the Indian mission, a large AI ecosystem worth Rs 10,732 is being developed in Lucknow. This investment is 67% higher than any other technology infrastructure in the country. Additionally, while an AI-based traffic management system has been proposed to Lucknow, Varanasi is already implementing an AI-enabled smart traffic system. Under AI Pragya, over 100,000 young people, teachers, Gram Pradhan, government officials and farmers are trained in AI, machine learning, data analytics and cybersecurity. 17 municipal businesses and Gautam Budh Nagar have AI-powered systems implemented, including CCTV monitoring, facial recognition, license plate tracking and SOS alert systems. These are directly integrated with 112 helplines and police control rooms. Under the UP Agris project, launched with World Bank support and an investment of Rs 4,000, 100,000 farmers are connected to AI-based technology. In the revenue sector, satellite imaging and AI algorithms are used for land integration and record management.
