AI company brings breakthrough to male fertility diagnostics

AI For Business

A UK-based AI company has made major strides in male fertility diagnostics.

The process of getting an infertility diagnosis can be lengthy and difficult, and 1 in 7 couples struggle to conceive.

Determining fertility is a time-consuming process, and nearly 1 in 10 men are affected by infertility.

Now, a data science algorithm led by a team at Bayezian, a London-based AI company, can determine male fertility faster and more accurately than ever before.

As male fertility rates continue to decline, sperm counts have declined by more than 50% over the past 40 years.

This led Bayezian’s team to approach it from a data science perspective, which allowed them to identify sperm fertility with 96 percent accuracy, two percent higher than existing scientific approaches.

Fertility startup garners six-figure investment

Bayezian started the project 18 months ago after being approached by interested parties to improve fertility diagnostics.

The research team used the Modified Human Sperm Morphology Analysis (MHSMA) dataset to build a deep learning framework that can confirm sperm morphology.

Using differences invisible to the human eye, the Bayezian team built an algorithm that can determine how healthy a sperm is, and ultimately whether it’s fertile. .

The MHSMA dataset contains a collection of human sperm images from over 200 male factor infertility patients.

Each image is expertly labeled with normal or abnormal sperm acrosomes, heads, vacuoles, and tails.

This dataset can be used to perform sperm morphology analysis by performing deep learning techniques.

The project was part of a Bayezian incubator that combines academic excellence, industry expertise, and a commitment to advancing science to solve real-world problems.

Bayezian founder and CEO Ed Dixon said: “By approaching real-world challenges from a data science perspective, new capabilities can be realized.

“This project is a perfect example of the technology for good approach the team is working on. We believe that accurate diagnosis is an important tool in addressing male fertility. “

Bayezian combines academic excellence with industry expertise to inspire smart people to do amazing things with data.

This includes artificial intelligence and machine learning to give you a competitive edge, statistical analysis and cutting-edge research, and designing models and applications to make your life easier.

Since its founding in 2020, Bayezian has hired thousands of early-career data scientists, trained them, and found exciting projects typically reserved for experienced professionals.

Bayezian has done this by building a reputation for delivering quality results on time.
