Heavy Industries and Steel HD Union Minister Kumaraswamy said on Saturday that artificial intelligence, robotics and blockchain will redefine industries but cannot replace human creativity, ethics and emotional intelligence.
“We live in a country where artificial intelligence, data science and automation are shaping the world. But as we progress, let us ensure that artificial intelligence is guided by human intelligence and that compassion remains at the core of all creation,” he said. He spoke at the first convocation of Gandhinagar University, Karol.
Describing the National Education Policy 2020 as a historic reform, Kumaraswamy said it encourages critical thinking, creativity and innovation by blending traditional Indian wisdom with modern knowledge systems.
Commemorating Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, two great sons of the earth, Kumaraswamy said their lives remind us that the true strength of the Indian education system lies in Satya, Ahimsa, Seva and Karuna. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always believed that education is the foundation of a developed India – Vikshit Bharat,” he said.
“The 21st century belongs to those who learn, unlearn and relearn. Skills are the new wealth of nations,” he said.
He said Gandhinagar University, which was established as Gandhinagar Institute of Technology in 2006 and became a state private university in 2022, is currently a research-oriented university with over 9,000 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamalesh VN said that 37 postgraduate degrees and 6 doctoral degrees were conferred at the first convocation ceremony. “The university has recorded a 96% placement rate this year and has filed more than 40 patents,” he said.
