About a year ago, Cooperatie Hoogstraten approached Flemish consultancy Möbius to see if it could better predict strawberry production. What followed was a collaboration in which Möbius developed an AI model, Curv. Curv is a machine learning platform that helps growers plan and market position. The platform is now on the market to support additional producer organizations, with a webinar scheduled for March 24th in collaboration with Heliovision.

“Simply put, AI models can accurately predict when a certain amount of agricultural products, such as strawberries, will be available,” explains Wannes Dewulf from Möbius. “This is important because strawberry production is highly variable and the product has a short shelf life. AI can complement intuition with external factors such as weather, solar radiation, and cultivation methods to predict future yields.”
The system uses machine learning and genetic algorithms to continuously learn and improve. “The model processes more than 500 variables, can generate forecasts up to seven weeks in advance, and is updated daily. The result is up to 90% accuracy, allowing businesses to plan more effectively. Promotions, inventory management, and pricing strategies become more efficient.”
Webinar by Heliovision
The project began in collaboration with Cooperatie Hoogstraten, but due to its success, the partners are now exploring opportunities to support other producers and companies. “The free webinars we are organizing will be one hour long and will take a deep dive into the insights that can be gained from data, predictive modeling, machine learning and computer vision. We will start with real-world case studies and from there demonstrate what we can offer different producers.”
“However, we are mainly targeting large producers and cooperatives, as well as Dutch actors, as investments are required and projects need to be presented at the appropriate strategic level.The webinars will be in English, so they are internationally relevant, but our main focus is on the Benelux countries.”
