Arlington, TX — In this exclusive Healio video, Fatima Rodriguez, MD, MPH, We describe the use of artificial intelligence to quantify coronary artery calcium from CT scans performed for reasons other than CV.
Rodriguez, associate professor of cardiovascular medicine at Stanford University, gave a presentation on the subject at the CVD Prevention Conference of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology.
Rodriguez said her team found that if CT scans were performed for reasons other than CV and AI was used to determine the presence of CAC and quantify its extent, “notifying patients and their clinicians of the presence of this incidental finding could dramatically improve guideline-based statin use.”
